As a Linux Operations Engineer, you will be part of the Platforms Team. This team is responsible for managing the largest cloud and hosting infrastructure in Belgium & Europe. The Platforms Operations Engineer acts as the glue between the infrastructure team and other international teams that are consuming the global flagship shared webhosting platform.

Strong communication skills, Linux and scripting skills, and general foundational system administration knowledge are essential for this role.

What will you do?

The central focus of your role is monitoring, keeping a finger on the pulse, and proactively spotting issues on the European shared webhosting platform.

Your tasks include:

• Monitoring and managing team.blue platforms: This is a broad responsibility aimed at minimizing customer impact. You’ll collaborate with support colleagues, monitor systems closely, resolve technical issues seamlessly, and keep customers informed, ensuring swift resolution.
• Monitoring various Slack channels: You’ll identify and solve customer questions. If you can’t immediately resolve an issue, you’ll coordinate with colleagues for guidance and support.
• Following daily system reports: You will proactively detect anomalies and irregularities, addressing them with customers or support colleagues as needed.
• Communicating updates: Regular platform changes and optimizations require updates to support and sales teams to keep customers informed of new functionalities, maintenance, or changes that affect them.
• Coordinating migrations: Engage with customers to discuss planning, coordination, and approach. A down-to-earth attitude will be a key asset here.
• Testing and validating new features: You’ll detect bugs and verify whether everything works correctly.
• Managing internal tickets and support inquiries: You will (co-)manage these to ensure smooth follow-up.
• Automation of day-2-day tasks: Helping to create local tooling (by using PHP) to automate day-2-day tasks performed by the team.

Who are you?

• A technical background with a solid foundation in Linux (hands-on) to hit the ground running.
• Familiar with commonly used open-source technologies like Apache, MySQL, and PHP-FPM.
• Understanding of protocols such as DNS, POP3, IMAP, SMTP, FTP, SSH, and SSL.
• Knowing PHP or another scripting language is a plus.
• Passionate about the open-source world.
• Experience in communicating with customers is a plus.
• Highly customer-oriented and enjoy clear communication.
• Empathetic and adaptable, recognizing that every customer is unique.
• Team player with a passion for technology.
• Remain calm under pressure.
• Precise, results-oriented, and have a can-do attitude.
