Position
As a Linux DevOps engineer, you will work in a global and cross-functional environment. Within team.blue we use BlueStack (an oVirt fork) as a flagship virtualization platform. This platform is completely based on open-source technology. We are looking for someone to set up and maintain this environment together with the existing BlueStack team.
You will be at the base of scaling, improving and optimizing this platform, which is being used in various European countries and data centers. There is a lot of challenging work ahead.
Key responsibilities
- Setup of new BlueStack environments (Linux-based) for new (AI) deployments.
- Maintain, monitor, and update both new and existing environments; proactively troubleshoot issues and collaborate with developers to implement fixes and improvements.
- Work as part of a small, focused team responsible for maintaining and evolving the BlueStack platform within team.blue.
- Although the role is operationally focused, you will also have the chance to contribute to the codebase (mainly Java & Python), test new features, suggest improvements, and help shape the roadmap.
- Ensure compatibility of the BlueStack platform with evolving technologies and software stacks by collaborating with development teams to design, test, and implement enhancements.
- Act as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for BlueStack, supporting internal customers across various teams and brands.
- Enhance and expand internal automation for environment deployment—aiming for rapid, scalable, and repeatable provisioning.
- Research and define optimal setups for AI workloads: investigate GPU virtualization, performance tuning, and software stack adaptations to support high-performance compute.
- Deep-dive into BlueStack to become the go-to expert, understanding its architecture, dependencies, and optimization points.
Skills and experience
- Strong expertise in (RHEL) Linux systems administration; experience with CentOS and AlmaLinux is a bonus.
- Hands-on experience with Ansible or similar configuration management tools is a significant plus.
- Understanding of Python, or a strong interest in learning it. The backend of BlueStack is Python-based which makes it a useful skill for troubleshooting and debugging.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies on Linux is a plus (e.g., QEMU, Libvirt).
- Experience with GPU virtualization and tuning in Linux environments is an advantage.
- Experience with Java is a nice-to-have.
- Familiarity with the open-source ecosystem; contributions to projects or active participation in the community are considered a bonus.
- You are proactive, analytical, and solution-oriented—able to take ownership and work independently in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
